NEW FOR 2014:
- New interior seat fabric for LX trim.
After a major redesign last year including a leaner body, a modern upscale cabin, and a pair of new powertrains, Honda is letting things be with the standard Accord Sedan. This isn’t to say that there’s nothing new with the Accord nameplate for 2014 – there’s a brand new Hybrid model, which is covered in a separate report.
There are two engines on offer to Accord buyers, a four-cylinder in two different tunes, and a V6. In base tune the direct-injected 2.4-litre four-cylinder makes 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque; a performance-optimized exhaust system helps the Sport model put out 189 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, with a CVT automatic as an option (EX-L receives the CVT as standard).
The upgrade V6, a 3.5-litre, makes 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque, and comes paired with a six-speed automatic.
Trims include LX, Sport, EX-L, and Touring with the 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine. V6 models are available as EX-L V6 and Touring V6.
The LX adds new interior fabric for 2014. It also comes standard with 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, Econ mode button, security system, chrome grille, body coloured door handles and door mirrors, power heated folding mirrors, active noise cancellation, air conditioning with air filtration, power locks, power windows with auto-up/down driver's window, remote entry system with power trunk release and power window control, cruise control with steering wheel mounted controls, reverse camera, Bluetooth phone connectivity, exterior temperature indicator, auto on/off headlights, smart maintenance minder, tilt/telescopic steering column, 8-way power driver seat, 4-way manual front passenger seat, heated front seats, 6-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with 8-inch LCD display, text message and email capability, steering wheel mounted audio controls, USB and auxiliary input, and anti-theft feature for audio.
The Sport adds steering wheel mounted paddle shifters (when optioned with CVT transmission), 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, dark chrome grille and door handles, body coloured door mirrors with turn signal indicator, front fog lights, decklid spoiler, dual exhaust finishers, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The EX-L adds (to LX) continuously variable transmission, lane watch blind spot monitor, forward collision warning system, lane departure warning system, chrome door handles, body coloured door mirrors with turn signal indicator, moonroof, LED taillights, dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows with auto-up/down driver's and passenger window, proximity key with push-button start, multi-angle rear camera, auto-dimming rear view mirror, rear air vents, driver seat position memory, 4-way power passenger seat, leather-trimmed seating, heated rear seats, HondaLink with touchscreen, Aha radio, and satellite radio.
The Touring adds (to Sport) LED projector beam headlights, LED daytime running lights, moonroof, rear LED taillights, power windows with auto-up/down driver and passenger windows, proximity key with push button start, multi-angle rear camera, navigation, auto-dimming rear view mirror, rear air ventilation, driver seat position memory, leather upholstery, heated rear seats, 7-speaker premium audio with subwoofer and touchscreen, Aha radio, and satellite radio; removes decklid spoiler, dual exhaust finishers.
